Sustainable Design & Regulations
Sustainable design is an imperative in modern architecture, integrating environmental responsibility into the built environment. Guided by regulations and standards, architects navigate the delicate balance of creating aesthetically pleasing structures while minimizing ecological impact. This introduction explores the symbiotic relationship between sustainable design principles and regulatory frameworks, emphasizing the pivotal role they play in shaping environmentally conscious architectural practices.
Project 1 (Group)
Project 1, we were given a task as a group to find how sustainable design can reduce the impact of natural disasters and how design is pivotal in working along with the nature. In this case, our focus is on the strategies to reduce flash floods risks in Johor by researching on the current technology on hoe to prevent or reduce the impact of it.
WHAT HAVE I LEARNED?
In this module, I learned more how regarding the sustainable design behind each ideas. We learned how and why it was built in a way that it works together by reducing the impact it has on the environment . We also learned that the things that goes into the design is not only an beautiful design but a matter of will it affect the environment. From the selection of materials, to the orientations of the buildings, as well as the usage of the latest technology to benefit only the occupants, but also the society by adhering to the SDG requirements.
TGC'S I HAVE ACHIEVED
In this module, I have learned some interesting things along my journey in my third semester. Along the way, I have learn a lot regarding how to study and design a building with the intentions of combining it with the sustainable ideas. This learning led me to the first TGC'S, Lifelong Learning. Besides that, I learn how to identify the site that the structure is about to be build. It is important as this is one of the most important step in ensuring the design works well with the site. This led to my second TGC'S, Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills. As a continuation, I find it a little bit difficult for me to talk to my lecturer as I am not used to meeting new lecturers and tutors. But after getting to know them well, I find it very interesting and fun to have a conversation with them. They thought me how to be critical at all time, analysing and interpreting data as well as teaching me and guiding me along the way. This led me to my final TGC'S, Intrapersonal Skills which I have developed from all the guidance and teaching from them.
